New operators quote 20 minutes for setup because that is what the manufacturer says. Real-world setup is longer, and underestimating it is the fastest way to ruin a Saturday.
Drive time
Budget 30–45 minutes each way in suburban delivery zones. Traffic on a Saturday morning is not the same as your Tuesday scouting run.
On-site setup
- Walk the yard, find power, check for sprinkler heads: 5 min
- Unload and roll out the unit: 5 min
- Inflate and secure blower: 5 min
- Stakes (grass) or sandbags (concrete): 10–15 min
- Walk client through waiver, rules, and shutdown: 10 min
Realistic total on-site: 35–45 minutes per unit. Add 15 minutes for a water slide (hose routing) or a combo with an extension.
Teardown
Deflation is faster than inflation but folding wet vinyl adds time. Budget 30 minutes per unit at pickup, more if it rained.
Why this matters
A three-stop Saturday is really about eight hours door-to-door once you count driving, setup, teardown, fuel stops, and one bathroom break. Quote yourself honestly or you will end up doing pickups in the dark and blaming the software.
